PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are both regenerative treatments made from a small draw of your own blood — no synthetic product. They release growth factors that improve skin quality, under-eyes, and hair. PRF is the newer generation. Here is the difference, and how we use them at LuXe Concierge Aesthetics in Davie & Weston, FL.

The key difference

PRP PRF
Processing Higher-speed spin, uses an anticoagulant Gentler, slower spin, no anticoagulant
Growth factor release Released quickly Slow, sustained release over days (fibrin scaffold)
Consistency Liquid Can form a gel (EZ Gel) for volume
Best for Skin quality, microneedling boost, hair Longer-acting skin quality, under-eyes, and natural volume

Which is better?

PRF is generally considered the upgrade for most facial and under-eye uses because it releases growth factors gradually and can be made into EZ Gel for natural volume. PRP still has excellent uses, especially combined with microneedling and for hair.

Deborah’s Clinical Perspective

Because both come from your own blood, they are among the most natural options I offer. I reach for PRF and EZ Gel when I want a longer-acting result or a gentle, all-natural way to soften under-eye hollows and improve skin quality. PRP still shines paired with microneedling and for the scalp. The right choice depends on the area and goal — and both avoid synthetic filler entirely, which many patients love.

FAQ

Is PRF better than PRP?

For most facial and under-eye uses, PRF is considered an upgrade because it releases growth factors slowly and can form a gel for volume. PRP remains excellent for microneedling and hair.

Are PRP and PRF natural?

Yes — both are made from a small draw of your own blood, with no synthetic product.

What can PRF treat?

Skin quality, under-eye rejuvenation, natural volume (as EZ Gel), and healing support.
