Can rosacea be cured?
“Rosacea cannot be cured, but it can be genuinely improved and kept calm with the right treatment plus daily care and ongoing maintenance. It is a chronic condition that flares with triggers — sun, heat, cold and wind, spicy food, alcohol, hot drinks and stress are the usual ones — so a big part of success is learning and avoiding your personal triggers. For the redness and visible vessels my most effective tools are light and laser: IPL for diffuse redness and a Nd:YAG (Yag) laser for individual vessels, both delivered on our Rohrer Spectrum platform and best suited to skin types I–IV. RF microneedling can help too, though it is usually a secondary step rather than the first. And it all holds together with gentle, barrier-supporting medical-grade skincare and daily sunscreen — I love Plated, Senté Dermal Repair, and Hydrinity’s HyaCyn Active spray and Restorative serum for calming rosacea-prone skin.”

Persistent facial redness, flushing, and visible vessels from rosacea or sun damage can be calmed and reduced with the right light and laser treatments — alongside a gentle skincare routine.
Best treatments for redness & visible vessels
- IPL photofacial — reduces diffuse redness and background flushing.
- Vascular laser — targets individual visible facial veins and vessels.
Deborah’s Clinical Perspective
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition, not an infection or something you ‘catch,’ and there is no cure — but with the right plan we can quiet the redness, fade the vessels, and keep flares to a minimum. I frame it honestly as management: treatment plus daily care plus periodic maintenance, because the tendency to flush never fully disappears. The first conversation is always triggers, since they drive the flares — sun is the biggest, along with heat, cold and wind, spicy food, alcohol (red wine especially), hot drinks and stress; I help each patient map their own pattern, because trigger avoidance plus a daily mineral sunscreen does as much as any device. For the visible redness and broken capillaries, light and laser are my go-to: IPL calms diffuse redness and flushing, while the long-pulsed Nd:YAG (Yag) laser is excellent for tracing and sealing individual vessels, and I deliver both on our Rohrer Spectrum system, reserving them for skin types I–IV where they are safest and most effective, usually in a short series with maintenance sessions. RF microneedling is a useful option for overall skin quality and texture, but it is rarely my first move for rosacea — I lead with the vascular treatments. Underpinning everything is a gentle, barrier-repair routine: I love Plated for regeneration, Senté Dermal Repair to calm and strengthen the skin, and Hydrinity’s HyaCyn Active spray and Restorative serum to soothe reactive, flushed skin, always paired with daily sun protection. Treat it, protect it and maintain it, and rosacea becomes something you control rather than something that controls you. I also treat rosacea as a whole condition, not just its color: when there are papules and pustules, those inflammatory bumps often need medical therapy, so I may add a prescription topical such as azelaic acid or metronidazole, or a low-dose course of oral doxycycline, alongside the device work. Gentle LED light therapy is a lovely calming add-on between treatments to settle inflammation. And what you leave out of your routine matters as much as what you put in — I steer rosacea-prone skin away from alcohol-based toners, fragranced products, high-strength actives and physical scrubs, all of which tend to provoke a flare.
